research is how the lecturer teaches vocabulary in the secondsemester students
of the English Department of University of Islam Malang. The instruments used

data from interview, the researcher asked the lecturer about strategies used in
teaching vocabulary. In terms of media, the researcher took data based on the
media the lecturer used when teaching vocabulary in class, it will be recorded
and documented through photographs.
This online learning

media used specifically to teach vocabulary was a PowerPoint slide. The
lecturer gave explanation through a PowerPoint slide that could appear on the
students’ screen. PowerPoint slides for vocabulary learning to 100 EFL students

vocabulary had significant differences compared to those who did not use them.
This shows that power points can be used in teaching vocabulary.

problems that occur during a pandemic. for example, students and teachers
experience communication misunderstandings, inadequate facilities such as slow
laptops, high internet costs, limited ability to use applications, students and
lecturers were unfamiliar with online learning, so that it affects students’
motivation in learning.
To solve the students’
motivational problems, the lecturer said that using varied applications and good
visuals would reduce the students' boredom. The result of his research showed a
significant impact on students they made progress in learning vocabulary. The
research showed that the use of online applications could make students feel
better and more active in learning process. According to Setyowati , by
applying learning and teaching media using technology in the form of an android
application, giving teachers to understand and explain the English vocabulary

applications makes students more comfortable in learning.
One of the advantages
of lecturers who teach vocabulary online in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic
is a very comfortable test that can be passed anytime and anywhere, this helps
increase knowledge. While the disadvantages of online learning are that
students and teachers experience communication misunderstandings, inadequate
facilities such as slow laptops, high internet costs, limited use of applications,
students and lecturers are not familiar with online learning, thus affecting
student motivation in learning.
